Beyond the borders of the known lands, to the east, lay the unknown lands – darkness, orcs, iron, fire, pain – torn apart by centuries of war, hatred and a thirst for vengeance. The Captain of the mercenaries, the bastard king of Men with the powerful and magical name, Rankstrail, who had defeated the Orcs and had long been presumed lost, had become their emperor, followed, perhaps guided, in this admirable endeavour by the simple soldier Skardrail, the last fire mage, descendant of a line of Orc priests exterminated by a cruel power. Peace between the two peoples had become possible; brotherhood could reign, but a new threat, even more terrible than the Orcs, the Yurdions, was approaching, along with a dire curse.
